We’re sure you’re excited to get started, but still have lots of questions which need answering. To help here are the answers to some of the most frequently asked questions we come across.

Before I Order

Do I need a special licence?

For you to be able to ride an e-scoot you need at least a Provisional Driving Licence. You then need to have your CBT training – more information available here, and ride with L plates.

Do I already qualify to ride?

You qualify to ride without further instruction if:

  • want to ride an e-scoot and you passed your car driving test before 1 February 2001

  • want to ride a motorcycle and have a full moped licence from passing a moped test since 1 December 1990

  • have a full motorcycle licence for one category and want to upgrade to another

Can I have a test ride?

Of course! We allow testing from our offices here in the Midlands, and also often do mini roadshows to allow you to come and meet us and have a go in a city closer to you. Check our Test Ride page for further information – or send us a message through the Contact Us page if you have a specific question.

How many miles can you REALLY do on one charge?

We are very careful to ensure that we don’t over promise on the mileage that an e-scoot can do on one charge. Whilst we’ve seen the test units do well over 50 miles on a charge on the continent in practice in the UK the weather isn’t quite as nice and the roads aren’t quite as smooth, or flat.

Shrewsbury, our home town, is particularly hilly, we have used it through the winter and the summer and can average around 25-30 miles before it becomes a bit too dangerous to be nipping around on. Obviously there would still be a few miles before it was entirely empty, but this is the point where we started to feel a little unsafe jumping around in traffic.

We recommend that wherever possible the batteries are charged to ensure the best performance from your scooter. We also will continue to monitor battery quality progression and, if there is a leap forward that deems it worthwhile, will offer an upgrade to a better battery solution at a cost price (ie without profit for us).

Making My Order

I've decided which I want - what next?

Great stuff – you’ve decided which e-scoot you’re after and you’re ready to make your order.

Go to Buy e-scoot and pick the model you would like. It will then bring you to the product page. Select the colour of the scoot and the saddle you would like.

You’ll get 2 options – 1 to pay in full the other to put down a deposit. Make your choice, pay your money and we’ll be in touch!

I'd like to pay in full...

Top stuff!

Click Full Amount on the Product Page and follow the instructions.

Once the transaction has gone through we will be in touch within 3 working days to say hello and let you know how things are going.

I'd like to pay a deposit...

We are happy to offer a deposit to you, which allows you to make your order and put down £500 to secure your e-scoot.

Once the e-scoot is ready to be delivered we will be in touch to pay the remaining amount. This needs to be paid before delivery is made.

Your deposit is fully refundable if you change your mind – although we’ve never had to do this – generally people are very excited 🙂

Click Pay Deposit and add to cart, then follow the instructions. We’ll be in touch in 1-3 working days to say hi!

I've made my order - what happens next?

Once your order has been placed we will send you a message within 1-3 working days (normally immediately, but just in case!) to give you the email of one of our Customer Service Representatives here at e-scoot.

It will be their job to keep in touch and let you know where your e-scoot is and how long it will be to get there. You’ll also be more than welcome to send them any questions, ask for clarifications, invite to dinner – the choice is yours!

What is the 35 point check?

For peace of mind every Scoot we get in goes through a through 35 point check by our mechanic Geoff.

Ranging from the obvious to the more mechanical, Geoff goes through each scoot with a fine tooth comb, ensuring that when you take delivery the scoot is in absolutely perfect working order.

How long before I get my scoot?

This depends on stock – we generally keep a number of e-scoots in stock here in the UK, if you have ordered one of those we will make delivery within 5 days.

If we do not have your e-scoot in stock it takes around 3 months from order to delivery. We will walk you through the entire process and ensure that you are fully aware of what is happening at all times.

When we have stock this will be promoted on the site, to check if we have any models currently here please email us from the Contact Us page.

How can I pay for my e-scoot?

You can buy through our site here, using the online portal.

We take all major cards, Paypal and Bank Transfer (although you’ll need to call us about that).

We can also take payments over the phone if you prefer.

Do I need to pay for my registration?

Before you can take your e-scoot we need to ensure that your scoot is registered with the DVLA.

It is one of the things that we can walk you through once the order has been made, to ensure you can make the most informed decision – you have 2 options – Firstly we can do the registration for you (for an extra cost), or secondly, you can do it yourself.

We’ll be happy to explain it more when we get to this point!

What happens if I change my mind?

We offer a full refund if you change your mind between ordering the unit and taking delivery. Once you have the unit you have our usual guarantees to ensure peace of mind.

Do you deliver?

We mainly will deliver your Scoot to the address specified when buying. We will then also give you a run through of how the scoot works, let you take it for a little spin and generally get involved in the excitement of getting your new Electric Vehicle.

Throughout the process of buying an e-scoot you’ll be in touch with one of our Customer Service team, who will be able to book a delivery around you as needed – we are very flexible.

Can I collect?

We are based in Shrewsbury, Shropshire – right at the end of the M54. When we get a new delivery of scoots we try to put on an event to celebrate and hand over the scoots for the locals and people who want to come and collect. We try to make this a really fun afternoon – so you’d be absolutely welcome to come and be a part of it!

Your Service Representative will be able to tell you what we have planned and when as we get closer to the big day!

I've changed my mind - what happens next?

This has never happened! We have a 100% rate of happy customers – BUT in the very unlikely event something is really wrong you are covered in many ways:

  1. You have a 30 day no quibble refund if you really don’t get on with your scoot.

2. You have up to 100 miles to get an upgrade

If you have a ride and decide you want to upgrade your unit you can do so within 100 miles of driving.

3. You have our Guarantees and Warranties

See below for further details

4. A lifetime of support online

I need a mechanic...

Your Scoot has 1 years guarantee if something goes wrong. This means if you get in touch we send Geoff, our highly skilled mechanic, out to you to get it fixed immediately, free of charge.

After the year we will still be happy to assist with any issues, we keep a stock of spares in the UK ready for action if something goes wrong and will be happy to help.

Other Questions

How does Tax work?

You have to have your Scoot registered by the DVLA, which means that you have a number plate and are bound by the usual rules of the road.

You do not, however, pay any road tax as your vehicle is entirely emissions free – so once you have got the registration papers you’re good to go!

Am I really congestion charge exempt

Yes indeed 🙂 Get zipping through those London streets tax free!

What about MOT's and Services

You will need to give your Scoot a MOT after 3 years, in accordance with current DVLA rules.

We offer a service facility, which allows you to have your scoot checked over by our mechanic-  just drop us a line if you would like this.

Guarantee & Warranty

Battery Warranty

Your battery is covered with a 2 year warranty. If anything goes wrong with it, or it fails to charge we will replace the battery free of charge with a unit equal to, or less than the age and use of your current unit.

e-scoot warranty

You have a 1 year warranty on all the parts on your e-scoot, for e-scoots with normal wear and tear.

If a part is faulty we will travel to you and replace for no cost. If it becomes apparent that the entire scoot needs replacing we will do so with a scoot with less use than yours.

Please note if the unit is involved in an accident or similar this is outside of the warranty and needs to be taken up with your insurance. (Although we’ll obviously be as helpful as we can to get you back up and running!)
